First 70 Degree Day of the Year!

After winter visited the area over the weekend with 3-6 inches of snow and strong winds on Saturday evening, the area is basking in spring like temperatures today. Sunday's system began as some light rain but quickly transitioned over to heavy and blinding snow. The conditions Saturday evening into the night were nothing  less than miserable. Thankfully the system moved out quickly and temperatures moderated on Sunday under sunny conditions. The weather has continued to get better with today being the warmest day since October. Yes Cleveland, it hit 70 degrees today, three days after a heavy snowfall. The wonderful weather will be quickly departing as a very wet period begins on Wednesday.

A storm system to the west is pumping very warm air from the south into the region. A cool front will  move through overnight before stalling along the Ohio River. 

Wednesday will be a much different day across the area as a much cool air mass will be moving in. High temperatures will be in the lower 50's and light rain will begin to fall across the region later in the day. To the west in the  middle part of the area, severe thunderstorms will be possible as the energy ejects out of the Rocky Mountains. 

Rainfall will continue to fall across much of the area on Thursday and high temperatures reach near 50 degrees. The cool and damp conditions will prevail as the area will be north of a warm front.  Additionally, severe weather including possible tornadoes will be affecting the mid-section of the country.

Update A severe weather outbreak appears to be on tap for Thursday. A large area is at risk for severe thunderstorms with the highest likelihood across Missouri and Arkansas. Large hail, damaging winds, and isolated tornadoes will be possible during the afternoon and evening hours. Residents there should be on alert and take cover if dangerous conditions approach.

On Friday the area should make it into the warm sector as a warm front lifts north of the region as the main low pressure tracks into the Great Lakes region. Temperatures may rise into the 60's which could lead to conditions conducive for severe storms. Stay tuned to the latest weather alerts as this may be a dangerous situation.
