Active by Mid-Week

Another warm and beautiful weekend is in store for the region. Yesterday the area experienced a brief cool down after a weak backdoor front move through the region. Today the region is back under the influence of flow out of the south and west. High temperatures today will rise into the 70’sand  will be near 80 degrees by Sunday. The pattern will become more active as we head into next week as a zonal pattern will push a storm system into the region by mid-week.

Currently the weather over the region is being controlled by a weak high pressure that is moving off to the east after pushing a weak cool front through early Thursday. Warm southerly flow is taking over which will elevate temperatures through the 70's over the weekend. 

On Sunday a storm system will move into the Central and Northern Plain states generating thunderstorms that may reach severe limits with  large hail, damaging winds a few tornadoes. This has the potential to be a low end tornado outbreak for that region and residents should stay alert to rapidly changing weather conditions.

On Wednesday the storm system will move into the central Great Lakes region with showers and thunderstorms. Depending on the timing of the frontal passage severe storms will be possible for many locations.

In the extended, warm conditions look to continue for much of the nation. The exception may be the Northern Plans where an active storm pattern could lead to cooler than normal temperatures. 

Delightful Weekend

The weather this Memorial Day Week will start out cool on Friday but will warm each day as high temperatures rise through the 70’s.  High pressure will remain in control for the next four or five days keeping thunderstorms to the west and south of the region. The region should be a washed in sunshine throughout the weekend with the first chance of rain not arriving until late Monday into Tuesday. 

Currently high pressure is control of weather providing cool and comfortable weather. An upper level low in the West is generating thunderstorms, at times severe, from Western Texas into Eastern Colorado. The Southeastern states are experiencing very warm temperatures with highs topping 90 degrees in many locations. 

On Sunday the high pressure will be moving east of the region allowing warmer air to spread back in to the area with high temperatures well into the 70's. The thunderstorms will remain far to the west of the region. 

 On Tuesday a weak system will begin to affect the region bringing a chance of thunderstorms throughout the day. Temperatures will be warm with highs remaining near 80 degrees.

Looking ahead, it appears that summer has finally taken hold of most of the nation. Temperatures for the next 6-10 and even 8-14 days look to be above normal for most of the nation.
