Warm Memorial Day Weekend

The local Cleveland area is experiencing another midweek cool down. Highs at the beginning of the week were in the low eighties (80’s) but today’s high temperatures were just shy of sixty (60) degrees. This current cool down was brought by storm system that generated approximately fifty (50) tornadoes on Saturday as it moved into middle section of the country. Temperatures will continue rising slowly as the work week comes to a close and will increase substantially for the holiday as strong southerly flow becomes well established. Severe weather will be on menu for areas from Oklahoma south into Texas with a risk of tornadoes for the Red River Valley. A very warm pattern appears to be in store for much of next week.

Nearly fifty (50) tornadoes touched down across the middle part of the country on May 16, 2015. Thankfully no deaths were attributed to the tornadoes

Currently the local area is still experiencing cool weather. Northerly flow is holding temperatures to around sixty degrees today and overcast skies are allowing it to feel even cooler. Tomorrow high temperatures should hold around sixty (60) degrees again as another push of cool air affects the area. Hopefully skies will clear as the day progresses.

The start to a warmer pattern will begin on Saturday and become more noticeable on Sunday as southerly flow takes hold. High temperatures will be near seventy (70) on Saturday and will be well into the seventies (70’s) on Sunday.

Upper level energy will move into the central part of the country and will possibly produce severe weather. At this far in advance particulars are not certain but tornadoes and high winds seem possible.

On Monday a warm front will push north of the area and lift temperatures into the eighties. Showers and thunderstorms will be possible but will ultimately depend on how close the front is to the local area.

The warm pattern will continue through at least Thursday as a storm system approaches from the west. Highs will continue to be in the eighties (80’s)
